Regarding the origin of the name Bai Chay, it is recorded that in ancient Ha Long there was a coastal sandy beach, people often used fire to burn boats to avoid barnacles clinging to the boat and causing damage. The name "Bai Chay" also originates from there. Some people also suggest that in the past, generals and people of the Tran Dynasty burned the bodies of the invading Yuan Mongols that washed ashore on the beach and then the fire spread to the nearby forest, hence the name Bai Chay.

Bai Chay is one of the three main tourist areas of Ha Long. This is the bridge connecting Tuan Chau Island with Hon Gai, known as the center of Ha Long City. From here, it's easy to access all the prominent tourist destinations in Quang Ninh. Due to its coveted geographical location, Bai Chay is often crowded and bustling with many entertainment and tourism events taking place every day. The entertainment events here often last until late at night, so they attract many tourists.

You can visit Bai Chay at any time of the year, but the best time to visit is May, June and July. Bai Chay at this time has a cool, pleasant climate. Because Bai Chay is located in the city center, transportation is relatively easy. You can easily get to Bai Chay from Hanoi by bus, limousine or car. You can also travel by motorcycle to Bai Chay. According to the experience of many tourists who have been to Bai Chay, the travel time from Hanoi to Bai Chay is about 3 to 5 hours.

By bus

Traveling by car will save the most time. If you go from Hanoi, it will take about 2.5 - 3 hours to get to Bai Chay. The cost typically ranges from 100,000 - 200,000 VND/person/trip. Another option is to take a limousine from Hanoi to Quang Ninh. The price is slightly higher, averaging around 180,000 VND/person/trip and the travel time is the same as taking a bus but will be more comfortable and convenient.

By motorcycle

If you are a true backpacker or like the feeling of flying in the wind, a motorbike is the choice for you. The total journey can be about 160km, taking about 4 - 5 hours to drive. You can take either National Highway 5 or National Highway 18. National Highway 5 is more challenging to ride due to its narrow and dark road conditions, with heavy truck traffic. National Highway 18 is wider and less congested. For safety, it's recommended to choose National Highway 18.

Tickets for Bai Chay artificial beach are free (open 24/24). For companies and organizations that want to organize team building here, depending on the number of people, a venue rental fee will be charged.

This is considered the largest beach of Ha Long city and possesses a beautiful poetic scenery.

New Bai Chay Beach

The new Bai Chay Beach is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Bai Chay. This is a free artificial beach near Ha Long Park. Bai Chay is the clearest and most beautiful beach in Quang Ninh, with a pristine white sand beach more than 1000m long.
