Đống Thếch Ancient Burial Ground in Kim Bôi, Hòa Bình

A Sacred Place of the Mường Động People

• The Đống Thếch Ancient Burial Ground is a remarkable cultural treasure of the Mường Động people, with a history spanning more than 400 years.
• Located at the head of the valley in Chiềng Hamlet, Vĩnh Đồng Commune, the site contains hundreds of graves surrounded by stone pillars of varying heights, forming a distinctive “stone forest.”
• The largest stone pillar is more than 1m wide and about 4m tall, covered in green moss and faded ancient inscriptions that add to the burial ground's mystery.
• To local people, this is the inviolable “sanctuary” of the Đinh clan—the wealthiest family of quan lang chiefs among the Mường people in the past—and is associated with many legends that remain only partly explained today.
