Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum, Hà Nội

The Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum is also known by several other names, including Lăng Bác Hồ, Lăng Bác, and Lăng Hồ Chủ Tịch. It houses President Hồ Chí Minh's embalmed body and is where people from across Vietnam and international visitors come to pay tribute to the great leader of the Vietnamese nation and an outstanding cultural figure of humanity.

The Mausoleum is located at 2 Hùng Vương, Điện Biên Ward, Ba Đình District, Hà Nội. It was built on the site of the former platform in the center of Ba Đình Square, where President Hồ Chí Minh read the Declaration of Independence that founded the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

In his will, President Hồ Chí Minh requested that he be cremated after his death and that his ashes be placed in the country's 3 regions. However, the Party and the Vietnamese people wished to preserve his body and place it in the Mausoleum so people from across the country could come to commemorate him. In 1/1970, the Soviet and Vietnamese governments met to discuss the Mausoleum's design and construction plans. Construction began in 2/1972, and the Hồ Chí Minh Mausoleum was inaugurated on 19/5/1975.

The Mausoleum is a historic monument of great significance, expressing the Vietnamese people's deep affection for their great leader. It is a cultural and historical symbol of the capital and a popular place of pilgrimage for domestic and international visitors whenever they come to Hà Nội.
