Long Biên Bridge, Hà Nội

Standing across the Red River for more than a century, Long Biên Bridge in Hà Nội is not only a great witness to the city's history but also a familiar destination amid the bustling capital.

At first glance, you may think Long Biên Bridge looks no different from other bridges, or even rather old and run-down. However, few people know that it was the first steel bridge built across the Red River. Located in Long Biên District, it connects the capital's Long Biên and Hoàn Kiếm districts. The bridge was built by the French from 1898 - 1902 and was originally named Doumer Bridge.

It was renamed Long Biên Bridge after the liberation of Hà Nội, and the name remains in use today. The bridge is now a popular Hà Nội attraction for international visitors exploring the Hà Nội Old Quarter and for young people stopping by to check in.
