Đống Đa Mound, Hà Nội

This Special National Monument was established to honor King Quang Trung's victory and symbolizes the Vietnamese people's resilience and indomitable spirit in resisting foreign invaders.

Đống Đa Mound is a historic site on Tây Sơn Street, Quang Trung Ward, Đống Đa District, Hà Nội. It is associated with King Quang Trung's defeat of the Chinese Qing army in 1789 during the heroic Battle of Ngọc Hồi–Đống Đa.

Now known as Đống Đa Cultural Park, the mound is a historic site attracting many families and young people of all ages who come to learn about the traditions of their ancestors.

Just 2km from the city center, Đống Đa Mound covers 6.000m2. A large temple on the mound honors heroes and martyrs who made great contributions to the resistance against foreign invaders over thousands of years, including Nguyễn Tri Phương, Hoàng Diệu, Lê Lai, Trương Đăng Quế, and Đoàn Thọ Lang (the latter 2 were officials who served the Nguyễn Dynasty)…

The mound was heavily damaged by war, leaving only its foundations. In 1989, the Hà Nội authorities decided to rebuild Đống Đa Mound Cultural Park across a total area of more than 21.000m2.
