Dinh Cô, Vũng Tàu

Dinh Cô Temple stands on an open stretch of land along the coast of Long Hải town, Long Điền district, Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu province. According to stories passed down among the people of Long Hải, Vũng Tàu, the temple originally honored a young woman named Thị Cách (Lê Thị Hồng), who came from Bình Định. While crossing the sea near Long Hải, her boat was caught in a severe storm and wrecked, and she died. Her body later washed ashore near Hòn Hang.

Moved by the young woman's tragic fate, the people of Long Hải buried her on Cô Sơn Hill. From then on, she repeatedly appeared in the dreams of local fishermen, helping them avoid accidents whenever they went out to sea. The people of Long Hải subsequently built a temple in her honor near Hòn Hang and revered her as the "Goddess of Long Hải".

In 1930, the temple was relocated to Kỳ Vân Hill and was rebuilt as Dinh Cô in 1987. Besides Dinh Cô Vũng Tàu, local people also call this spiritual site Dinh Cô Long Hải.
