Domaine De Marie Church, Đà Lạt

Located on Lam Sơn Hill at 1 Ngô Quyền Street, Domaine de Marie Church (also known as the Domain of Our Lady or Mai Anh Parish) is one of the oldest historic churches in Đà Lạt, built between 1940 and 1944. The church features distinctive 17th-century European architecture, with a steep red-tiled roof resembling a Central Highlands communal house, Normandy split-stone walls, and stained-glass windows imported from France, creating an enchanting atmosphere that is both luminous and historic.

Inside, visitors are greeted by a solemn main hall, long rows of pews extending from front to back, a raised platform for the priest, a ceiling supported by sturdy columns and beams beneath the tiled roof, and a round rose window in the characteristic French style. A particular highlight is the 3m-tall, 1-ton statue of the Virgin Mary, inspired by Vietnamese women and designed by architect Jonchère in 1943.

The church is surrounded by spacious grounds with green pines, colorful flowers, and chapel buildings used by the Sisters of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, who care for orphans and provide medical treatment to local residents. This peaceful, picturesque setting also contains the tomb of Mrs. Nee Suzanne Humbert, the wife of the Governor-General of Indochina, who campaigned for the church's construction. This makes the site both a cultural attraction and a deeply evocative historical landmark.
